A ladies Bible study went through Jen Hatmaker's "The 7 Experiment" Bible study in which each week of the study focuses on a different area of excess in our lives. The first area of the 7 was food. In the study, there is a challenge to count the number of food items in your house. Most had over 200 items in their pantries, freezers, and refrigerators. But how many times did we stand in those same pantries and declare there was nothing to eat? Unfortunately, it is often a reality for families in our own backyard to truly have nothing or very little to eat. We wanted to find a way to meet this need in our community and we take the opportunity to do our part with the Feed the Ridge project. Every year we come together as a community and shop to help stock our local food pantries. Watch the calendar for the dates for this special event!
Johnson University is an outstanding university for training preachers and ministers to work in missions and churches worldwide. Several of our own Praise Team Members have come from Johnson University.
kidsPACK USA is a nonprofit organization supported by community leaders, corporate sponsors, churches and concerned citizens joined with a core of volunteers throughout the county dedicated to improving the lives and opportunities of children. Their purpose is to energize local communities to impact the lives of children sparking a positive change and giving the opportunity to spend each day free of hunger, to encourage learning and enhance abilities, to be clothed with dignity, to have shelter and security, to experience the kind and compassionate heart of a giver.
Lake Aurora Christian Camp prepares children and adults to serve in their churches and challenges them to get training in a Bible college. We have helped each year in “keeping the cost down” for summer camps and continually assist students with going to camp.
Mission of Winter Haven is a faith Mission, supported by freewill offerings and contributions of churches, groups and individuals. The need of the work is constantly laid before God in prayer, and information concerning the work is circulated among God’s people.
Winter Haven Christian School is a nondenominational school provides a Christian atmosphere for children 3 years old to 12th grade. They have over 400 students this year and are celebrating 52 years of developing spirit, mind and body in children in our community.
